In the blog, often reference is made to the Chinese currency Renminbi (RMB) or Yuan.

1 RMB or 1 Yuan is around 0.16 USD or 0.12 EUR.
The official Chinese rural poverty level is 2,300 RMB per year (around 368 USD / 276 EUR). The part of the population that falls below this level is to be found in the poor farmers areas.
The minimum wage in Beijing is 1260 RMB per month (around 202 USD / 151 EUR) and the average salary in 2010 was 4037 RMB per month (around 652 USD / 489 EUR).
