Mrs. Jiang is just waking up from her nap after lunch time when we enter her shop. She and her husband own a shop where they sell and produce dough for making jaozi (dumplings) and other flour based products, such as noodles. They work and live in the shop that consist of one room. In a corner of the shop, a curtain separates their bed from the workplace. A year ago they came to Beijing from the Wuyi mountain area in Fujian province. They left their child behind in their hometown. He is 11 years old and in the 6th grade of primary school.
Their main customers are the neighbors and some little restaurants in the area. According to Mrs. Jiang the business is though as there are not many people living in the area.
